Starting Texas Surrogacy
Wow! I think that’s the best word to describe the last year of my life as a gestational carrier and now as someone invested in the future of surrogacy.
As we welcomed our second daughter in 2015, my husband and I knew we were complete as a family. We had our two beautiful girls to share all of lives amazing experiences with. However, as a woman, the thought of never carrying another pregnancy again was sad to me. I absolutely loved that time of my life. That’s actually what lead me to my doula work. Through supporting women during that sacred time of pregnancy and birth, I was able to contribute in a special way I really can’t even begin to put into words. Watching families welcome their children earthside is one of my lives greatest joys.
As life comes full circle, in turn my doula work called me to surrogacy, and when the opportunity to carry for one of the strongest women I think I have ever met came… well, of course, I had to take it. Of all the times I have witnessed the faces of parents seeing their babies for the first time, seeing her meet her daughter…well that was it. The joy I felt in that moment, can only be compared to the joy I felt meeting my own girls for the first time.
It is through the journey I shared with her to bring her sweet girl into this world, that I again felt a calling. This time it was to share my experiences and knowledge with other gestational carriers on their journey. I am so excited to help support and guide women through their first steps as their intake coordinator. Through Texas Surrogacy I am now able to do that. I can’t wait to see what this next year will bring!
